Prince William's Royal Wedding Cakes

As Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding date (April 29th, 2011) fast approaches, speculation about the royal wedding details has hit a fever pitch!

One hot topic that everyone is buzzing about- the wedding cake! The National Wedding Show in London features the crème de la crème of wedding cake designers, and today, we've got the royal wedding cake take from Rachel Willow (see a sampling of her beautiful bespoke cake confections below) of Planet Cake!

Rachel predicts that Prince William and Kate will stick with tradition and choose a classic, elegant wedding cake. It's too bad she wasn't commissioned for the job... because her concept is lovely!

Taking the Spring wedding season into account, Rachel envisions a traditional creamy white wedding cake (with a touch of green) adorned with fresh flowers and elegant pearls. The cake would feature pearlised piping and romantic lace touches, and each wedding cake tier would hold a pearl-and-jewel-encrusted royal icon.

When it comes to flavor, Rachel asserts, "It has to be a buttery vanilla cake with a vanilla bean cream and Duchy lemon curd!" A woman who knows what she wants. Don't you just love that?!
